thanks Cole for the great pics!!! very concerned about the Addams Family house at 9th & Chestnut Sts-it's soon back to school and fromthe picture it looks about ready to collapse.....very unsafe looking. is it condemned?

Regarding the license plate….yes he was. People around town who are familiar with him know he is a great man.

As for the house at 9th & Chestnut Street…..it is a shame to see this house fall into such disrepair. I had an occasion to be in the house back in the 70’s. What a beauty. It had fallen victim to a fire back in the early 80’s but was repaired. Just a darn shame!

9th & Chestnut house could be so beautiful! I think they want about 100k for it...but I bet it would need another 200k on top of that to restore it. Such a shame!!

oh my look at the left side support post from the Addams Family house.....looks unsafe and ready to collapse and take the roof above it too. this is scary. its on the safe routes to school. is it condemned???

Maybe it should be condemned. Some of the wood doesn't look too healthy, and the back wall is questionable.

It might not be condemned, but a real estate agent described the house as "enter at your own risk" and it seem that whomever was in the last time, just stripped the house bare.

It is sad, and it continues.

And you're right to be concerned about kids going back to school. The structure could become an attractive nuisance.

Yes, it could easily become a money pit. You're right - it's a shame it has fallen to this condition.

Not sure. I've heard it was a repossession, and was purchased in the spring (?) for around $80,000.

and so, it continues. nothing is done to correct the situation or at the very least protect innocent pedestrians who have no clue it's in sure disrepair......it was a beautiful property years ago and yes it was a funeral home and yes a few private owners moved in and out and each may have done some work,,,but as we all can see from just one picture-it looks unsafe.

East Donegal man charged in Columbia hit & run

NATHAN WILLISON | LNP Staff Writer An East Donegal Township man is facing criminal charges after police say he struck a 13-year-old with his truck and fled the scene last month.  Derek Scott Mohr, 28, is charged with causing an accident involving death or injury without a license, failing to stop to render aid, driving at an unsafe speed and related charges.  Mohr had been driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado through Chestnut Street in Columbia around 8 p.m. March 20 when he struck a 13-year-old boy riding a motorized scooter and continued driving, according to charging documents filed by police.  When police arrived, they found the boy with a broken leg and a cut to his forehead. His scooter was lying nearby, its handlebars completely snapped off.  Another teenager who witnessed what happened described the truck to police and said that the driver made no attempt to stop after striking the boy.   GUEST COMMENTARY [Name withheld by request out of fear of retaliation] For two decades, Leo Lutz has occupied the mayor's office in Columbia, and his supporters are quick to credit him with every positive development in our borough, but leadership is a two-way street. If Mayor Lutz is going to accept praise for Columbia's successes, many of which, frankly, he had little direct involvement in, then he must also be held accountable for our failures. The facts paint a troubling picture. Despite the mayor's repeated assurances that our streets are safe, we've witnessed a disturbing rise in assaults, shootings, and vandalism.
