[LNP | LancasterOnline] Columbia man sentenced up to 40 years in prison for 2022 murder

A Columbia man will spend up to 40 years in prison for fatally shooting one man and injuring another after a drug deal gone wrong in Columbia in 2022.

James Earl Pilgrim Jr., 31, pleaded guilty to third degree murder and 10 related offenses for killing Lamar Lewis, 41, of Philadelphia, injuring Dwayne Lucas.

The shooting happened around 11 a.m. on Nov. 30, 2022, in the 200 block of North Second Street. Columbia police found Lewis and Lucas with gunshot wounds inside a Dodge Challenger.

Lucas was shot in the thigh and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Pilgrim previously spent time in prison for burglary, theft and drug offenses.
