On Monday, 1/15/24 at or about 11:58 pm, Columbia Police patrol officers were dispatched to the area of the 100 block of North Fourth Street in Columbia for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 16-year-old juvenile male who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to his leg. The male was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The wound is not life-threatening. Multiple spent shell casings were located in the 300 block of Avenue G, and all indications are that the shooting event occurred in the 300 block of Avenue G near its intersection with North Fourth Street.
Investigators collected evidence from the scene and are continuing to work towards obtaining surveillance footage from several privately-owned security cameras located in the area of the shooting. At this point, the shooting victim is not cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
