Columbia students 'learn the process of planting fresh food' from school gardens



When: Columbia Borough School District board committee meeting, Jan. 2.

What happened: Grace Julian, co-founder and executive director of the Edible Classroom, presented to the board regarding her program's initiatives at Columbia, which involves students in all three schools planting and maintaining a garden.

Background: The Edible Classroom started at Columbia last summer. A summer garden camp, funded by local businesses and organizations, provided 52 Columbia Borough students with the opportunity to learn through gardening.
