Bootleg Antiques welcomes Al Capone and other bootleggers to Columbia

Al Capone has returned to Columbia, at least in photographic form. Bootleg Antiques, at 135 Bridge Street, is currently displaying images of Capone and other bootleggers in its first floor windows. Also hanging there are fellow Depression-era gangsters John Dillinger and "Baby Face" Nelson. Like Capone, Nelson was involved in bootlegging, and Dillinger may have been also, since he was partners with Nelson at one point.

Legend has it that Capone was a frequent visitor to Columbia in the 1920s and 30s, when the town was known by some as "Little Chicago."
