One has to wonder how much traffic actually flows through that intersection daily to justify that
ReplyDeleteCurious myself, can we find that info from the borough???? Expensive project for 15 cars a day, there are other options like speed tables, which are an extended, typically 5-6 foot in width. Made from blacktop, alot cheaper then a round about,
ReplyDeleteI live near the intersection of 12th and Central and I have to say there is more than 15 cars a day that travel from 462 to Manor. Most not all motorist think it's a speedway especially motorcycles. There's children and residents that ride bikes and walk that take a risk crossing the 12st speedway. There has been numerous accidents . Just look up police reports on it. As for this circle we would have preferred two stop signs instead but a higher authority thought better. The tables would work but would possibly effect fire apperatice.
ReplyDeleteAs a resident of this neighborhood I welcome some type of solution to the recklessness drivers do while traveling 12th street!
A sacrifice of convenience over damage of property and possible loss of life is worth it in my opinion
I understand tenth street to the fire department is a race track, Manor St, poplar St, 0 to 60 stop sign to stop sign. 5th and Maple many accidents, many illgal turns there many times a day. Linden St, from 5th to 3rd race to the light. Cars passing from ramp to 3rd, when Turkey Hill is busy probly have more be kids and parents walking down linden then anywhere in town. More stop signs at 12th and central Ave would have been enough, Wonder why it got so much attention over other areas worse.
