Ok you all got my vote , these crooks that have turned Columbia borough in to a circus and laughting stock are going to have there heads handed to them and told see yea and the mess they created will be overturned.
Great. What exactly are we going to do here? I want some ideas. We love to say that our elected officials don't listen to us, maybe we don't listen to them. Like it or not, its been explained over and over again that this tax increase is unavoidable. So what are you planning to do different? Any ideas?
Fair point. Not liking an answer is different from it being the wrong answer. And to also be fair, there's been an awful lot of stones thrown, but not a whole lot of ideas.
Cut spending , cut amount of employees, cut out the money pit, no expansion . we can't afford things in town so NO more money pit it is big enough and S/H should clean it etc... for the money (too much) they get. No loan fund, there is so much unneeded things , get the state to inspect resturants ,they do it free ,just take out the fat.
Tough one to respond to Anonymous #3 without having access to the information that's available to the council.
Maybe a place to begin is to compare against other like-sized municipalities in all categories, number of employees, compensation vs. compensation, etc.
May be, insider Anonymous #3, you have access to info that the folks who are voicing concerns do not?
If I were running, I'd be anxious to hold a town hall to do just that. Many areas to cut spending. Many areas of spending that should be discussed. Lots of things said at meetings with zero follow through.
One example: Like when the mayor said he wanted codes and police to walk around town together. So what actually happened, council voted to purchase three new code trucks.
Please attend meetings so you can see all of this for yourself and ask questions. If you don't pay attention, you'll just pay. Sharon Lintner
Yep Sharon for Mayor she is not afraid to speak out and or Norm would be a good boro Manager or Mayor whatever. He's for us taxpayers. Either one of them could turn this town around.
There is a bit more to being Mayor than not being afraid to speak out. Aren't these folks required to attend training on governing a municipality? I know in NJ you are. Just curious. So, glad I do not live in Columbia but sad for those that do.
No training required to be a mayor in Pennsylvania. With that said, Mayor's of boroughs in Pennsylania have very little along the line of responsibities and very little authority.
