About Town - 1/27/19

This week's photos from around Columbia
(Click/tap on photos for larger, clearer images.)

Guitars and tires. And that's all you'll ever need.

 Heart to heart

 Hearts for hearts' sake

That's what happens when you don't keep up with your workouts.

 Falling monument

 For those really big snows

 He keeps coming back.

 The new truck in action

Burned by the trolley failure, the borough tries another means of conveyance.

Broken sign, just like the one that was broken elsewhere last week.
Targeting? Who would do such a thing? Yes, who?
Hmmm, let's see . . .

Enforcement of various things at various times

Columbians will temporarily have to travel far and wide for their booze.
The local store is closed for renovation.

 Here's the permit.

 Some folks were still hopeful.

 Folded wings

 Reflecting

 The river's high.

 Spontaneous waterfall

Cat(s) on a cold rubber roof

Have a seat on 2nd Street.

There's that truck again.

Forgotten meter

All trolleys fail, some more quickly than others.

  2. The "Falling Monument" photo is one very rare piece in Columbia history. This is one of two monuments that were placed in the park during the amazing 100 year Centennial and Old Home Week in Columbia. Can anyone guess what this was used for during this week of celebration?

  3. Well I can see a expired meter , the mayors truck should be ticketed , no one should have to pay meter tickets . Show this to the judge. Just wait till more blaten things come up but this shows the mindset of our officals.

    3. Come on Leo we thought you were better than that, you said at council meetings "just put a quarter in the meter" now why CAN'T you practice what you said? You are supposed to set example for the public that elected you, including teenages , if you think you are above the law step down and let a person lead by example , this is a start to clean up Columbia , you know it starts at the top and works down. One more thing a borough only parking lot is about 100 feet away , is it LAZY or do you have a chip on your shoulder with the things that are coming out.

  4. Looks like a watering trough for man’s best friend or his horse. Is this at the corner of Eighth St? If it is where is the second one?

    1. You are correct on a watering trough for the horses. We are unsure the whereabouts of the second trough. What a gem of Columbia history.
