What a joke!!
ReplyDeleteA sad day in CBSD history!
ReplyDeleteKedney and Ford voted yes...am a bit surprised and disappointed but given the circumstances of each of their votes I should not be surprised.
Neither was elected to the board ...they were appointed.
Board member Ms. Kedney has a habit of speaking in a demeaning way toward others, especially fellow board member Ms. Hohenadel. This is doing Ms. Kedney no favors, in fact it is a turn off. We were always taught to respect our elders.
ReplyDeleteI deeply appreciated and was totally surprised by Ms. Geesey's "No" vote. I gained new respect for her tonight.
True colors are showing.
Powell had to go or else there was no need for a DOO position. I am of the opinion that she was pushed out. When Strickler was hired as DOO he was being groomed for the superintendent position.
Since Kedney's mother is Strickler's secretary it may have been appropriate for her to recuse herself .
ReplyDeleteNot may have - SHOULD HAVE! That's just wrong.
DeleteAm proud to know Ms.Hohenadel, Mr. Leader, and Jenna.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your service, your integrity and your honesty.
Being members of this board must be particularly difficult for honest people.
I continue to be surprised at the residents that do not demand to know where every single tax dollar is going.
ReplyDeleteIf a taxpayer purchased a material item for $3,000, they would have expectations that the item would function properly. They surely would return it if it did not function properly and demand a refund.
Why would anyone blindly hand over thousands of dollars to the school district and let them play with it without question?
How many weeks or in some cases months, does someone have to work to pay their property taxes? Come on people, stop giving your money away.
How did they come to the salary amount of $102,000 without prior discussion on a Superintendent pay scale? This needs to be examined by the District Attorney's Office for Corruption with Public Funds.
ReplyDeleteThere is no perfect crime.
ReplyDeleteThe search begins for something that they forgot to cover up.
Past school district board members or administrators may be able to help.
Tonights vote is NOT the end of this!
I overheard a comment at tonight's school board meeting and it did not sit well with me...
ReplyDeleteAs Mr. Resch was leaving the podium, an audience member said "Run" (for a school board seat), there are over ten thousand residents in this Borough dude. Even if we "Run," we will not ALL get a seat, physically impossible.
That's the equivalent of saying if you disagree, shut up, unless you "Run."
Free speech and transparency...Demand it!
This is Time Travel - we just went back 10 years
ReplyDeleteI was at the meeting tonight and want to thank the three board members who did not vote for mr.Strickler the i don't see how the rest of you can sleep at night and you broke the law when you did.not interview anyone else also I have a question to ask how can Strickler be superintendent of schools when his wife is a 5th grade teacher at Taylor school isn't that a conflict of interest how can he be her boss if anyone has a answer please let me know
ReplyDeleteVote for Rebecca Young. Write in vote. Mama on a mission. Time for a change
ReplyDeleteIs there a list of interested people who want to be write ins for school board? You do not to vote for all on ballot, you can just write in and not vote for the others.
ReplyDeleteWho is interested in being a write in for council or school board?
ReplyDeleteOk Columbia: More of the same, high taxes and failing school district. And apathy from the taxpaying residents.
ReplyDeleteRemember some of the board members were appointed, not elected by the people.
How did they allow this to happen? There may well have been a qualified candidate that wanted a crack at this job, so why wasn't this position put out to the public? Interviews for a superintendent should have been held at public meetings.
Contact Pa. Department of Education if this Strickler super deal offends you.

This travesty must be halted before his special certificate is issued.
more of the same strickler was part of the problem for 15 years
DeleteGreat idea!!! If 500 people contact PDE, we may be able to stop this pervasive group of six board members, 3 who were not elected by taxpayers, from installing their leader into this position.
DeleteThese 6 board members will be giving a yes vote to anything that Strickler chooses to do...in other words, he will have no superior and no one will be evaluating him, except his super six.
If Strickler gets special certification, It must be understood that he, and he alone, will be choosing all new teachers and all new administrators for a three year period.
He who is not legally permitted to teach in the State, will be evaluating all teachers and administrators.
Time to man up Columbia people.....stop this at the State level. We are better than this !!!!
