Is some painter getting a kickback? Just talked to my realtor. It's time to leave. Too many rules in this town with random enforcement. How about PEOPLE taking responsibility for keeping their homes clean and maintained. This town is filthy to the naked eye, yet instead of cleaning THAT up we'll have a gun to detect lead?!!
It is time to leave! Council is spending and spending at will for things that the people of town do not want. The schools are out of control, with board members serving only one person while taxes are breaking taxpayers...Dreams ,egotism , misguided leadership...there is no reason to stay unless you want to go down with the ship.
This should not have to be done! When you sell or rent a home the the land lord or who is selling meaning the real estate people should know what the type of paint is in the home!!!!
They r spending money on having the houses checked 4 lead and they r not worried about all the trash and grass and all the people that r not in ordnance of the codes. Wow columbia is alsome
"Then leave, nothing is stopping you." REALLY, that's always the answer. The taxpayers that were born and raised here are told to leave because they do not agree with a few people in charge of their money. I so wish more taxpayers would stop paying and demand accountability. If enough homeowners had the courage to hold their tax money back we might be able to generate changes. It cannot be done with only one.
Nanny state at it's worst. Here is an idea..make landlords have properties tested at their expense and submit proof that it was tested and rectified if needed. As for private homes..that is the buyers own business. If i want to buy a house its my own business if i want it tested.Either i spend the money to have it done or i will have the seller do it....regardless it's my decision, not the Boroughs!
I'm guessing it will take about 40 to 50 years to test EVERY home in Columbia since they are only testing owner occupied homes at the time of sale. My parents live in their home for just over 50 years before they sold the home.

ReplyDeleteWhen they come to your door you can say NO THANK YOU!! They can not do anything without your permission!
ReplyDeleteIf you read the article you can see that it's not a boro program, it's Healthy Columbia's, thus not the tax payers paying for it.
ReplyDeleteMy understanding is that the borough code officers will be doing the inspections. If that's correct, then the taxpayers are paying for it.
DeleteWelcome to Communist Columbia!
