It rained intermittently while Columbia Park Rangers and others cleaned up Columbia River Park this morning, but we won't say "The rain didn't dampen their spirits" or any other such cliche. Instead, we'll just say they worked for several hours removing trees, weeds, and debris, and Columbia owes them a lot of thanks.
Why are we paying time and a half for borough highway workers to clean the park up?
ReplyDeleteI thought the Susquehanna Heritage was responsible for this! That what we as TAX payers are paying for!!
DeleteColumbia Borough is responsible for maintaining Columbia River Park. Susqueahnna manages Columbia Crossing Trail Services Building only. Susqueahnna Heritage has nothing to do with the park. Also, thank you to all who turned out on Earth Day to clean up the park.
DeleteIf that is the case here, you people are very much over payed!!
DeleteTHANK YOU to ALL involved!!!!!!! Yous rock :)
ReplyDeleteWhen you have a group of volunteers help tidy up a park that the borough is responsible for, I,as a taxpayer,do not mind to pay some overtime to assist the volunteers clean up. I noticed a backhoe and dumptruck (boro owned) in the pictures. I am sure the volunteers do not know how to operate equipment.Keep up the good work, Park Rangers. Your work (all volunteer) saves us taxpayers money, that normally would be done as time permits by the borough.
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I just completed a walk along the river, spent time at the Columbia Crossings building and enjoyed the view.It is a shame that some people don't realize the treasure they have in their community. To those that service the parks, kudos for a job well done.In the town we are located, many envy a recreational area as this.
