What is this new vision for the market house don't even have anyone to run the market house what happened to the people who applied to be the new market manager about time you make up your minds and give the people a real market house with more stands in it where people really want to go
We know what a few people want to do with the market house and when they are done with it it will know longer be a market house it will be a ball room just what we need the coffee club does not care about the people of this town just what they want it is there way the people of this town do not have a say
What is "a chunk"? This former Trust President, which was NOT in the article, needs to walk away. The Trust had a management team, and Cle was the "God" of all. Poor business decisions in the last six years with no vision destroyed our market. Give it to someone who can make revenue and restore it luster, not just throw money at something you hope that will work. Give me a break!
Anyway! define a "Chunk" please. The NEW market house advisory committee has two former "Trust" members on it. Councilman Berntheizel also a former Trust member. How are things charging? Just giving them more money to blow.
Just read the Lancaster Intelligencer how they attract 16,000 per day, and the "Trust" used their By-Laws. Hmm!
They had these bright ideas of Capital Campaign, Grants, etc. But of course you need true workers for that task. Ask the stand holders how many of the "Trust" members shopped there regularly.
Columbia attracts well over 250,000 visitors a year for antiques, Turkey Hill Experience, Rails to Trails, Watch & Clock Museum, and other events and small museums. If you are not smart enough to capitalize from these visitors in the last four years, you should not be in business.
From the last two posts about the Market and Municipal Authority, I am enraged and furious with this Borough Council. If you are interested in running for Borough Council in 2017 and build this town for economic stability and work for the citizens. Email me at redrutabaga@gmail.com with your information such as your name and phone number. I currently four possible candidates with great civic and professional backgrounds. Let us make Columbia Great Again!
We need this now, the current council has the deck stacked. I hope the residents are fueled by rage and demand change. Tide rolls out, now let it bring in change.
Why wasn't this market "chunk" of the nine million bond announced at a public council meeting? Why was it announced to borough residents in a newspaper article? Council makes fools out of residents and they continue to allow it.
Guess which loud mouth big spender on Council has a DUI, municipal tax liens and State tax liens on his property and bad credit and this guy pushes his agenda while spending the money of taxpayers who have real jobs.
It does disturb me that a member of council owes the taxpayers money, by way of a lien. I may be wrong but aren't council members paid a small amount of each month. If so, that money should be going directly to the taxpayers to pay off the amount owed to us.
Where are the investigative reporters ,FROM LNP , who need to bring out the truth about our Council and the School board instead of writing this FLUFF and quoting people with personal agendas who embarrass this town?
These people fear the truth. This fear requires them to operate in the darkness of secrecy. They fear that people will find out what and who they really are. Public funds are not to be used for the goals of these secretive people
Five council members terms expire in 2017.Murphy and Berntheizel, the dream team, terms expire in 2019. There are 7 council members. Why are Murphy and Berntheizel( who resigned once before) running the show?
2000 people reportedly rode the trolley. At $2 per, that's $4000 max they made. Spent $30,000 and gained $4,000. They could have tossed $25,000 in the river and it would have been a better investment.
And guess what? We're repeating that madness again!
Stop changing the hours. In order to attract a butcher or more produce stands, running water is needed at the stands.I would not sink alot of money into the market until the direction is determined. Personally, I like a market like Central Market in Lancaster.
1. Market should be open ONE day a week (maybe, if anyone has a brain, they'd take advantage of Saturday or Sunday when all the out of state people shop for antiques! AND maybe, the Borough would get SMART and have FREE parking on Saturdays so out of town & out of state people would frequent other shops! Duh, it isn't rocket science. 2. The Market HOuse Trust has done NOTHING but create more headaches. 3. I agree, this Borough and this COUncil are spending tens of thousands of dollars repeatedly....on what? Were ANY of you councilors elected to follow your personal agendas? Why in the hell do you think homeowners are leaving? 4. I think you ALL forget.....THE TAXPAYERS ARE YOUR BOSSES. YOU DO NOT HAVE FREE REIGN ON SPENDING. 5. Would LOVE to see more residents attend council mtgs. there's one on Monday Dec. 12 th at 7 pm!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteThe vision for the market house is from the coffee club. No other vision matters or will be considered.
ReplyDeleteCoffee club. Coffee club. Time to wine a new tune.
DeleteIf it's the same old boys network yes then you would be correct time for a new tune.

Markets are open 1 ONE day a week. Not 4, 5 or 6 for 4 hrs a day and from 10 am til 2 pm. Markets open at 6 or 7 am.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree one day and an EARLY opening hour is key. Pick a day when other markets are not in operation.

ReplyDeleteRight, sounds like the market house will be a capital project.
DeleteGuess which loud mouth big spender on Council has a DUI, municipal tax liens and State tax liens on his property and bad credit and this guy pushes his agenda while spending the money of taxpayers who have real jobs.
ReplyDeleteBecause he doesn't care. Why not contact former council president Tim Swartz, who basically fired him before.

Didn't those under ten ride free? Was the number "2,000" only the paying riders? Those under ten will be paying next year.
