I get these feel-good activities - but making people move their cars on a weekday evening is a pretty crappy thing to do. Bad enough having to waste the time and gas to move it for the $treet $weeper (if it shows up).
Kudos for the street sweeper.I have many out of town visitors that came and saw me when I was homebound due to chemo. They said their streets were cleaned once in a while not weekly.
"Like yourself obviously"? Take all night to think that one up, chief? Why not actually type out a meaningful reply instead of tossing out a one-sentence insult that is barely worthy of a 10 year old?
I have to agree, that reply was ridiculous. It would be difficult to live in that block and have to find alternate parking. Probably the person that wrote that reply has off-street parking and would never have to deal with it.
How about parking around schools when they ban parking from 7:00-3:30 weekdays, when they have a parking lot for drop off. It used to be 7:30-8:30,2:30-3:30. Also when their church members park in front of houses when the parking lot is nearly empty. The home owners pay taxes, they do not.
The problem is everyone whines about anything that interrupts what they want, yet complains about the downfall and taxes. When there is a good thing going, ask yourself how inviting and friendly are the townspeople to outsiders who come to spend their money or looking for a new place to live? Most of the time the attitude is, if you weren't born and raised in Columbia or at least have relatives who were, you are not welcome. No wonder the town is going downhill! Everyone who was born and raised in Columbia had families that relocated from elsewhere to live in Columbia. "Columbia Proud" is one thing Columbia Stupid and unwelcoming is another!
Unfortunately, a lot of people moving in are transients. We need people to move in and stay. If they are not welcomed, chances are they won't stay. Also, you want to have activities to entertain and promote the town. Parking restrictions may occur. It is only for a few hours
Why can't it be on a Monday or a Tuesday , we have company too on weekends and need our spaces, with all the money this Borough wastes why can't they build a parking garage downtown then ?
Better start that talk with the Mayor. I've seen him walk past people (obviously visitors) at RiverPark and not even say hello or welcome to Columbia. Nothing. Now what was that you were saying?
Yes, there is a nice lot at the bottom of Locust that can accommodate businesses, visitors, and even residents at that end of town. Where's the parking up near Locust Street Property? There's no where to put a parking area.

DeleteTurn off your damned caps lock. Also, learn to use spell check.
ReplyDeleteSuggesting a new idea is not whining. It's only whining because you don't like it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know maybe purchase and tear down that old building behind the post office and put one there, or behind the Burning Bridge Antiques ??
