Cole speaking of signs. I was told by the chief of Police that new signs were to be put up in the Locust Street Park. The signs would post new rules and regulations. I was told this 3 weeks ago! The signs are now there yet but the kids are there everyday still leaving their trash behind spewed all over the park. I guess he just told me and my neighbor what we wanted to hear.
It is outrageous that we have to repeat over and over again what is permitted in this park. Resting on the benches, talking, reading, enjoying the beauty of the trees, not having to look at or step in dog feces. The park also provides a place for special events to be held. It is not to be spray painted with graffiti, it is not a place for loud cursing, it is not a landfill. Basic common sense should not have to be explained.
Drive (or if you dare, walk) down south Fourth Street and get a good look. That is what the park is starting to look like. Trash all over, gangs of kids riding skateboards and bikes in the street, graffiti sprayed on the sidewalk. I decided not to travel in this area at all, walk or drive, because it is totally unsafe. Those people now own that block, yes as a taxpayer I do pay to use that street and sidewalk, but I simply cannot do so anymore.
Yes fourth street does really look bad I don't know why those people that live there feel they have to put there trash in the gutters it sure does look a mess.
same thing on 200 & 300 blocks Perry Street for a lot more years than South 4th St also on 400 block Union Street. I agree with comment about common sense. and i'll NEVER understand WHY the police can't cite these punks for disorderly conduct at the very least. maybe its time to get a vigilante group to patrol the park every evening so good people can walk it and sit on a bench and enjoy the trees, nature!!!!
Agree with most but LET THE CHILDREN PLAY... THEY ARE YOUR FUTURE. TEACH THEM WELL LET THEM LEAD THE WAY!!! I HAVE A TRASH CAN TUCKED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. THE YOUNG ARE THE ONES THAT USE IT.. OOPS REPORT ME
The practice is rampant in this town. Sometimes drivers don't even slow down.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, I see this rolling stop violation, not just daily, but several times a day at various intersections.
ReplyDeleteSigns mean nothing without enforcement.
ReplyDeleteWhen it says Stop that means. All four wheels must come to a complete stop
DeleteWho needs these signs?? Its going to cost more money! TAX MONEY!!
DeleteWe have to many stop signs now in this town! People dont use the cross walk!! What the HELL is next, use only bicycles only!!

ReplyDeleteYou can walk through without stopping. At specific times during the day, you're allowed to sit. Most other typical park activities are banned.
DeleteI guess we will have to wait for the new signs.
