  4. Your right at least he is spending money in the town. Not like Donald Nicklaus who continues to take from this town & gives nothing back. He builds a mansion in West Hemp

  5. Let's get some facts straight --- although there may be tax credits available to ANYONE who is purchasing/renovating in our downtown area, the Murphy's have opted not to take advantage of that opportunity --- secondly, they are paying taxes on these properties, so they are contributing to our community in that aspect. They are purchasing our community properties --- they are spending a ton of money, effort and time to renovate/revitalize these properties to IMPROVE our community --- they are seeking and finding qualified tenants for these same buildings, BRINGING BUSINESS to our community, and wait, it doesn't stop there ----- they actually promote those same tenants businesses every chance they get --- hmm.....another IMPROVEMENT.......and lastly, they are using LOCAL contractors for the work that is done to these buildings as much as possible, thereby promoting our LOCAL vendors.......furthermore, the Murphy's have a vested interest in this community and have contributed unselfishly to many of our community organizations, including those related to ALL OF the schools! Instead of bashing the Murphy's and making your snide, non-factual comments, perhaps you should be giving credit where it is well deserved......and if you don't like it, then perhaps those of you who have so much to say should put your money where your mouth is!

  11. Its not all haters, a lot of them including me are people who are disappointed in the way leaders have ruined Columbia. I myself am disappointed that our leaders are not doing the only thing there is to save this town & that is to proposition the state to consolidate our services ( school, police etc) with a surrounding neighbor. The ones slinging the haters words are the problem. They can't get over that Cola pride. Pride is killing this town.

    1. The point is Columbia got county wide recognition for the Murphys doing this project. This has nothing to do with school taxes and Columbia pride. So why vent hate on this story? Keep it positive!!

    2. Oh, and I agree that pride is killing this town but save those comments for the appropriate article.
