What I Saw - February 19, 2014

Warmer temperatures produced the beginning of a thaw.  Soon, we'll be back to where we started before all the recent snow, which leads me to believe the whole episode was nothing more than an exercise in futility by whoever perpetrated it.

Three geese went sailing by . . .

but this laggard chose to walk.

Actually, I use Bing quite a bit.

High on (the) pot

  1. Seeing the photo titled "High on (the) pot" reminded me of my personal plight today. Someone reported me to the borough code officer for feeding 2 cats that I had spayed and neutered over a year ago. I purchased my own live trap in November 2013. I am attempting to capture the older one because his health appears to be failing. I will pay 45.00 dollars to the SPCA to surrender him for euthanization, which I did for another cat last fall. I made a shelter for the first time this winter due to the extremely harsh temperatures and snow. The 2 cats used it periodically not routinely. While I admit that the shelter I made was not attractive, it was temporary until the weather breaks or I catch the older cat whichever comes first. Not only was I born in Columbia, I pay taxes (and a lot of them) to live here and someone is going to punish me for feeding 2 cats. The borough tolerates piles and piles of dog feces everywhere from the river park to locust street. Let's see some citations for that.

  3. kudos to you and all those who try to stop the feral cat problem...because there are way way too many cats roaming the boro. some kind of program would be awesome. good luck to you. i agree the dog waste is a SERIOUS issue and the code dept and or meter people SHOULD be issuing citations daily. use the cameras for something good.

    1. There are a lot of cats. Responsible pet owners shouldn't be harassed by the borough.
