Basically, the plan will re-route 18-wheeler traffic out of the downtown historic and commercial district. Truck traffic has been an issue in the borough due to exhaust, and vibrations caused by heavy vehicles, which are shaking historic buildings, cracking foundations, and rendering plaster to dust.
Be interesting to see how they handle the road b/t Bridge St. and Locust St. Front St. is not the widest there, especially the stretch between Walnut and Locust.

You're right. I wonder how they'll widen it.
DeleteIt will be interesting to see the entire river front turn into more antique markets. The Lancaster Container building next to Gordon Waster was just leased to a big antique operator. Business is booming at Tollbooth and I hear that the Doolittle Brothers plan to open another one at the old pallet building. Columbia is definitely becoming the Antiques Capital of Lancaster/York County.
ReplyDeleteIt appears the past is alive and well in Columbia.
