Meanwhile in another Columbia . . .

Columbia, South Carolina Approves Plan To Exile Its Homeless.
Whatever happened to  "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free"?
By comparison, our sleepy, little hamlet doesn't look so bad.

    that's terrible - a much better plan would be to give them all a $20 dollar bill and a free bus ride to either Lancaster, York, or Harrisburg where the shelters are bigger and jobs are easier to find.
