More than 80 residents of Columbia borough gathered Tuesday for the first in a series of town hall meetings aimed at improving the quality of life in the borough.
Police Chief Jack Brommer told the group — which included residents, members of council, and local business owners — that the meeting stemmed from daily conversations he and Mayor Leo Lutz have about issues voiced by residents.
The concerns include a lack of cleanliness, especially dog waste; visual code violations, such as trash left piled up outside homes; and personal behavior, such as truancy and disorderly conduct.

Glad their eyes are open. I do not mind paying taxes to live in a nice, clean community, but not in a dirty one with people loitering at all hours. It looks undesirable.

Or else name it the "Columbia Tire Depository."
The meeting was labeled as a Economic Development meeting. There was a nice presentation about a way to improve the level of home ownership. The second half of the meeting was more about inforcing laws. I was hoping to come discuss ways to improve the economic climate in Columbia.
ReplyDeleteThere are niche locations all over town. It should be cleaned up.
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting the agenda brought forth by Mayor Lutz and Chief Brommer.
We do have problems. They need fixed. The police are already under staffed. We need more police on the streets and in neighborhoods.
9th Street is a speedway- and dangerous - it would be nice to see traffic enforcement here besides Rt. 30 and Rt. 441.
From all that I have read, much was presented, with little or no time at all for comments from the citizenry.
That's true. More citizen rapture needs to take place. I thought one thing would be our wash board streets.
ReplyDeleteConvenient timing...... This was clearly an opportunity for the mayor to "politic" for the up coming election. He makes me sick!!!
