Reserved parking?

A commenter to this blog recently complained HERE about a car that was constantly parked in the handicapped space in front of the municipal building.  Sure enough, this PT Cruiser was parked there every day I checked (Tuesday through Friday of this past week) during regular business hours. The vehicle displayed a handicapped notice in the front window, so the driver has every right to park there, and I guess that means every day, all day long.
The only other handicapped spaces I saw around the area were a few metered spaces in the parking lot behind the bus stop.

What I don't understand is why it's allowed to be parked there on Thursday (the day this photo was taken), when the sign says . . .

NO PARKING THURSDAY
RESERVED FOR POLICE VEHICLES ONLY
This car does not appear to be a police vehicle, unless we now have a new unmarked police car.

  3. most days there is nowhere to park to go into the boro office to do business....that's the problem with this picture. boro vehicles should park elsewhere, in the lot or something. NOT in front of the boro.

  5. From what I'm told this pt cruiser belongs to a boro employee(police dispatcher). Guess you get perks like that if you work for the boro. Screw anyone else that might be handicapped and need to use this space to do business

    1. I wonder if other borough employees get their own reserved spaces.

  9. actually it IS my business as a TAXPAYER who would like to do business in the Boro office and there are NO handicap parking spaces in the front of the building to fulfill THAT obligation. Instead, I have to park TOO far away and TRY to get to and into the building. NOW is that FAIR?
The handicap parking spot IS INTENDED for handicapped individuals who are going into the Boro offices or Police Dept to do business. PERIOD.

  10. I would have to AGREE. I am a handicapped resident who still tries to get out and about and pay my bills and try to keep a little bit active-what my disability allows. It is VERY frustrating when I come into the Boro and there is NO handicapped parking space in the front of the building, because month after month the same vehcile is ALWAYS parked there-all day. WHY ISN'T THIS VEHICLE IN THE LOT???

  12. people i do believe that the handicapped parking space in front of the boro office and police station are for A HANDICAPPED INDIVIDUAL DOING BUSINESS IN SIDE THE BORO OFFICE OR POLICE STATION.....not for an employee.
