wading???? at the boat ramp area - definitely NOT too smart....should be fined/ticketed for that... someone will get hurt or killed. people do not belong in the water at the boat ramp. the ramp itself is a serious handicap - the slope is so wrong.
i'd say its time for whoever to step it up and start handing out citations !!!!! seriously, this should not be tolerated. go to the pool is you want to go swimming.
No Cole..not oblivious. It is pure disregard for the law. One Sunday evening we pulled into the ramp and you're not going to believe it:-) ..there was a woman, two children and the boyfriend sitting smack dab in the middle..i proceeded to back the trailer in and actually had to stop, get out and walk to back of trailer and ASK them to please move! They gave me maybe 2 feet to back up..just moved over!! Needless to say, the kifs were still in the water!! Within this time four other island people were coming in for the week and,(hold your breath), they continued to sit there!!! Now mind you, there are now two vehichles on the ramp and another waiting to pull down and (surprise) they still sat!!! Is a child going to be killed or seriously injured before something is done about this??
This ongoing behavior at the ramp is an accident waiting to happen. People need to realize the dangerous situation they are creating by swimming there. Maybe a few need to be cited, as the previous commenter suggested.
drove thru last evening and guess what ??!! more people in the water swimming...busy place. lots of people fishing and out boating...WHY aren't these offenders being cited ???????????
I have pics of swimmers at the boat ramp. I don't blame folks for trying to cool off in the water, but they are not supposed to be swimming at the boat ramp. Doing so is an accident waiting to happen.
folks who want to "cool off" do NOT belong in the river at the boat ramp area....that's what Locust Heights is for...or your hose at home for that matter...and besides the fact that even experienced swimmers sometimes struggle with the current in the river..and most likely these people have NO idea about the current..and guess what. something bad will happen and the Boro will be to blame. ENFORCE NO SWIMMING...the longer you wait to enforce the rules the harder it will be. it's truly a "no brainer"

ReplyDeleteExactly right. They don't belong there. I see people in the water at the ramp all the time. They seem oblivious to the signs.

ReplyDeleteYou're right - the law/rule does need to be enforced. Simply placing signs there does not prevent people from swimming.
